Finland is one of the key EU centers of applied research and business related to nanotechnology and the countryside is rich in the spirit of research and collaboration.

The nanotechnology research community is aligned closely with the nation’s technical universities. The Helsinki region is home to Aalto University, University of Helsinki, and Technical Research Center of Finland (VTT).

You do not need to look far for examples of collaboration. VTT and Aalto University operate OtaNano, an open access national research infrastructure that focuses on competitive research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, as well as quantum technologies.

Micronova is a part of OtaNano and offers facilities in micro and nanofabrication, nanomicroscopy and low temperature measurements, and quantum engineering. Micronova has the largest clean rooms in the Nordic countries that are open for academic and commercial use.

In addition to participating in the technical program, you’ll want to explore Helsinki, a compact, walkable city that easily explored on foot. Design, architecture, culture and shopping are all great exploration angles and large park areas, forests, lakes, and the coastline with numerous islands sprinkled off it make certain there’s something for everyone.
